Try the primer's four moves

Use this made-up garden report. Run one step at a time in the same image-capable AI chat. Pause to look at each result. Keep the earlier versions.

Maple Street Community Garden, 2026 Season Report
Everything in this practice set is fictional.
- Families with a plot: 48
- Food grown this season: 1,420 lbs
- Given to the Eastside Food Pantry: about 500 lbs (35%)
- Volunteer hours: 310
- Spent this season: $1,850, paid for by bake sales and one small neighborhood grant
- Goal for next year: 12 new raised beds that are easy to reach from a wheelchair

Audience: Neighbors, the food pantry, and the grant committee.
Use: Garden fence, library notice board, and one social post.
Approved headline: "About 500 lbs donated to the Eastside Food Pantry."
  1. Step 1: Show it quick

Using the facts below, make a draft infographic for our community garden's season report.
Copies the prompt with the garden facts attached.

Would you use it? Name one thing that works and one thing that needs help.

  2. Step 2: Fence it fast

Make another draft using the same garden facts.
Use this main headline: About 500 lbs donated to the Eastside Food Pantry.
Make the headline easy to notice, with supporting facts below.
Practice brand: cream background, charcoal text, and warm gold accents. Tall 4:5. Clear margins and readable text.
Use only the supplied facts and approved wording. Do not add statistics, quotes, logos, sponsors, or web addresses. Keep approximate amounts approximate. Any chart must match the data and compare compatible units.
Return a draft for my review.
Copies the prompt with the garden facts attached.

What improved? Are the facts still right?

The practice brand is a made-up example, not official Academy brand guidance.

  3. Step 3: Fix one thing

Use or attach the version you want to edit.

Use the previous image as the reference. Make only the main headline larger. Preserve the wording, numbers, colors, pictures, and layout. If you cannot preserve those parts, explain the limitation. Return a draft for my review.

Did the headline get larger? Did anything else change?

  4. Step 4: Make next time faster

Help me turn the brand choices and rules I want to keep into a short reusable brand skill for future report infographics.
Ask which choices I want to keep. Then use only the choices I confirm.
Include the kinds of visuals, colors, fonts if chosen, layout preferences, and editing rules.
For each future visual, ask for fresh facts and the main message. Do not carry over this garden's name, dates, numbers, or claims.
Keep the skill plain and short. Return it for my review.

Read it before saving. Cross out anything you did not choose.

Optional quick test: Use the skill in a new chat with a different fictional brief. Did you spend less time repeating directions? What still needed checking?

Optional: the whole pack for your notes. Run it step by step — don't send all the prompts to AI at once.
›When a draft comes back wrong

Check after each draft. Pick the fix that matches what you see.

  • "It added a fact." Compare with the source. Remove or correct the unsupported claim. Add the boundary to the next brief.
  • "The chart tells the wrong story." Check labels, units, and proportions. Use simple fact boxes if a chart does not help.
  • "The words are hard to read." Ask for larger text, fewer words, or better contrast. Check at the intended size.
  • "One edit changed other parts." Return to the earlier version. Name what must stay. Use an editor if the small change needs exact control.
  • "It added a logo or sponsor." Remove it unless supplied and approved.
  • "You keep repeating brand directions." Capture the approved choices in a reusable brand skill. Test it with fresh facts.
