Turn meeting notes into next steps

theCommons Academy helps you use AI for everyday work and check what it produces. This is free practice — no sign-in required. You'll need access to an AI chat tool you're allowed to use.

Use these text instructions in your approved AI chat tool. Features and results vary. No special integration required for this text exercise.

You bring
Notes from one meeting.
You get
A table of actions, plus open questions to resolve before sharing.

1. The practice material (fictional)

Pilot meeting, Monday: Maya agreed to send the draft agenda by Thursday. We discussed inviting a customer to the next meeting, but made no decision. The sign-up form needs checking before launch; no owner or date was agreed.

2. The instructions

Use only the notes provided. Create a table with action, named owner, stated deadline and supporting quote. Write 'Not stated' for missing details. Separate agreed actions from suggestions. Do not assign people or invent dates. List questions we must resolve before sharing.

Paste into a fresh chat. Only use your own material if you're allowed to share it with that tool.

3. What a checked result looks like

Teaching example — written for illustration, not a recorded product test

  • Agreed: Maya sends the draft agenda by Thursday. Supported by the explicit agreement in the notes.
  • Open task: Check sign-up form. Owner and deadline not stated. Confirm before assigning.
  • Suggestion: Invite a customer. No decision recorded.

Your result will differ. Check it with the questions below.

4. Before you use it

  • ☐ Can you trace each action to the notes?
  • ☐ Were any dates, owners or agreements invented?
  • ☐ Who will resolve missing information and approve the list?

AI can organize the notes. People keep ownership of commitments and follow-through.
